Is Homeownership within your Reach?
If you have been wanting to buy a home, but are having trouble saving the 3.5% to 5% required for the down payment on the loan, your day just got a little brighter! With the increasing costs of rent, buying a home has never made more sense. Now, with interest rates still at historically low rates, and with tools like DownPayment Resource, homeownership may be closer than you think.
What is DownPayment Resource?
DownPayment Resource (DPR) is a website that helps you find the programs that you are eligible for, to help with down payments and closing costs. You just enter a few details about the location you would like to buy, purchase amount, and other qualifying criteria like if you are a veteran, teacher, or healthcare worker for example, and the site lists the programs you can apply for. Each state is different, but there are currently 14 programs available in Kansas, and 35 in Missouri. These programs range from grants that do not have to be repaid, to tax credits, and affordable first mortgage programs. There really are some great options available.
